Describe How To Follow Classroom Procedures

Improved Essays
I believe that you have to explain the procedure you want to see, so that way the students know the reason why you want it done in that certain way. Then show and demonstrate the procedure so the student can see the way it should be done and eliminate any miscommunication. Then you will have to rehearse the procedure several times or remind them of it. For example, one of my procedure that will be the dismissal by teacher not by bell. I know that on the first week I will have to remind the class for the dismissal procedure a minute or two before the bell rings at the end of their class period. This will reduce the hassle of correcting the class and having the student stay back. However, if a student begins to leave at the bell and station is not picked up, then I will have to tell the student to go back a pick up. The consequences of them not following the procedure is that they will have less time to transition to classes or have less time to talk to their friends out in the hallway. The more reinforcement that you give, the more of the chance they will correct their behavior the one that the teacher is looking for. Once the procedure is reinforced then it will no longer be a procedure, but a daily part of their routine when they are in my classroom. …show more content…

Over winter break, I had the opportunity to work as a substitute preschool teacher at the Jewish Community Center of Columbus Ohio. I was placed in the Turtle Room, the classroom for two to three year olds. Since a large part of the student population is Jewish, the preschool cafeteria only provided Kosher foods. I distinctly remember one day talking to the lead teacher in the classroom, Amanda about how one little boy, Henry would never eat his lunch or snacks. Henry would stick to only the foods that he knew like mandarin oranges or carrots and that was all he would eat.…

It may appear like just child’s play, but toddlers are hard at work learning important physical skills as they gain muscle control, balance, and coordination. This is what I learned the day I observed my 36-month-old niece when on a play date with two other toddlers. Through observation I was able to gain a good understanding of why play is so critical at this stage in their growth and development, and I believe that there is no better way to learn about these themes than by observing play in action. This paper will discuss my observations and how it compares or contrasts to what is expected in the development of toddlers. Comparisons Play amplifies toddlers’ physical and psychosocial development.…

When I observed how Mrs. Laura managed her classroom, I realized she was able to address the problem on a more theoretical level because she showed that she cared about the children and their feelings. She worked on finding the cause of the behavior and figuring out how to fix it. She was able to build that teacher-student relationship with her students. That is an important factor when it comes to teaching. Once a child is comfortable with the teacher, there is potential for growth and success for a child.…

I believe that in order to have a successful classroom, a teacher must implement a variety of classroom management strategies to ensure that from September until June every single student gets the best education that he/she deserves. Even before the students arrive, one of the first things a teacher needs to do is make the classroom a warm, welcoming and safe place for each individual student. I want to make sure that from the first moment the students enter the classroom until the last moment before they leave that they will feel comfortable asking questions to both their peers and I. In addition, I would like my future students to feel like they can be themselves and at the same time accept their peers for who they are. When I do have…
