Ever since I was little, I have always been very close to my little cousin, Elena. She is four years younger than me, so now she’s fourteen and a freshman in high school. Elena and I get along so well because our personalities balance out each other perfectly. I am calm and quiet, and she much more extroverted than I am. Out of everyone I know, she has one of the most outgoing and confident personalities. Elena is the life of the party, and she is constantly making others smile. She uses this trait to her advantage in all areas of her life. It leads her to be a kind and caring person, helps her athletically, and even improves her abilities in and out of school. She has been playing soccer ever since she has been able to walk, and the field is like her second home. Every game, you can see her swiftly kick the soccer ball, and as it rockets into the goal, a big smile flashes upon her face. Elena is a natural leader when she plays for both her club team and the school team. She is always there to give a pep talk or to encourage others during a game, even when things aren’t looking up because she allows herself to see the bright side of things. Her easily visible excitement and passion for soccer allows others to get excited as well. Elena has always been a high achiever, and her and her siblings often compete to see who can get better grades in a class or ace more tests. Although natural ability does play a role in her outstanding performance, another key part is her bold personality. Her hand is perpetually the first in the class to go up when a question is asked, so she learns a lot from her active participation and discussion. Even so, she is not shy when she doesn’t understand something, and she will always rather ask a question during a lesson than being unsure of a concept. Elena’s chipper personality also gives her an advantage in group projects. While some people may not be a fan of them, she loves them, and she is usually one to be a leader and get the project done.
