Describe Confucius’ China (min 5)
→ Confucius lived in the sixth century BCE in China, where Crime and violence were rising. There were crimes such as theft and murder were common. However, it wasn't only in the poor streets, but, also among the nobility and even higher up to the government was corrupt. Economically, business was flourishing, and the rich were becoming richer, as the poor got poorer. Scholars were unemployed, and teaching wasn't done professionally, as is evident since Confucius is considered the first professional teacher in China.

→ Kongfuzi believed in loving the six virtues, “goodness, knowledge, faithfulness, righteousness, courage, and strong character. Without the love of learning, the six virtues would disintegrate. For example, the love of character would disintegrate into recklessness.”
Why do you think it's significant that Confucius was an “avid fisher, but, without a net”?
→ Fishing and hunting, in general, may not have been an ethical problem for Kongfuzi. However, fishing with a net, or shooting a bird at rest would have given him an unfair advantage over the animal. Thus, unethical, or simply not proper sportsmanship.
When did Confucius die? Would you have been one of his followers?
→ Kongfuzi died in 479 BCE, at about the age of 72. From what I know about him from the article, I would have been a follower. I agree with his views and hopes of education bringing equality and bettering society. Thus, if I was living during Confucius’ time, this appears to be the way to get a “higher” education. Also, I like the idea of speaking out against corruption and spreading justice and ethics. His focus on the living world and living a good life in an orderly society is also appealing to
