There are many concepts about adolescent development that I can find from the movie. However, the most prominent theory that I can determine from the movie is the Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory. In this theory, we learned that adolescent development could be influenced by five environment factors that they interact with; such as the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem and chronosystem. When Big Mike live with her family, there are many rumors and gossips about her but she ignores it and she believes that everything is under control—this is personal power. When Collins saw Michael studying alone in the library, she left her friends and joined Michael to study. At that time, her friends kept calling her to get back to her seat and their tone implying that sitting with Michael is a bad idea. However, Collins insisted and sits with Michael. This shows that she is caring and unselfish where she willing to help Big Mike in his studies and willing to let Big Mike live with her family despite of the rumors.
