My view on Descartes Meditations are false, and I believe this because there is too many things that could go wrong in the Matrix theory. Descartes says, “I have convinced myself that there is nothing in the world-no sky, no Earth, no minds, no bodies.” I completely disagree with this because how can everything we believe in be false? I will go through how I believe Descartes is incorrect, and why I believe in this.
Descartes is a philosopher who believes there is nothing in the world, and how were all plugged up into a computer. He believes everything as we know is false. He believes there is a “Deceiver” as he says In his “Meditations 2”. Although it could be correct how are babies brought into the world? Are they just …show more content…
And if the children aren’t really in the Matrix and all the original people die would that mean that no one is left? Even if Descartes was right about a so called “Deceiver” that would mean someone is controlling all humans, and how could anyone control us if there is no Earth. Where would our bodies remain? How could we all just be floating in space? I believe that we have our own minds, and we are the only ones that can control what happens to us. There is no “Deceiver” because someone or something cannot control everyone.
In the movie “The Matrix” there is millions of people plugged into machines, but how could something like that happen? How could everyone allow themselves to just be plugged into a machine? I think that being unplugged from the matrix or staying plugged in should be their choice. Just like Morpheus gave Neo a choice whether to go or to stay plugged in. Some people would just not be able to survive in the real world. Just like some people are athletic and are cut out to survive, some people would just much rather stay plugged in. The character “Cypher” is the best example of “Ignorance is bliss” because he turns in his own friends so that he could get plugged into the matrix once again, and forget everything that has happened to him. But how
