I think that it a very narrow-minded thing to say. By that I mean, I think he is saying that his interpretations on God being a perfect person automatically suggests that God exists just because he believes that everything has a purpose. Descartes isn’t providing a quality argument through these statements, just because he really isn’t using any evidence. If he provided some type of evidence, that would make his argument stronger, meaning that facts or reliable sources to back up his statements would make his argument essentially better.
For his second argument, In Descartes’ second argument, he says that he exists as something with an idea of God and everything that exists has a cause which is the reason it exists and preserves its own existence. He cannot preserve his existence and believes that he is not the reason for his existence. Also, Descartes considers that the only thing capable of creating him and preserving him is God. Therefore, he believes God exists. I am agreeing with Descartes on this argument for the most part. He knows that he can not conserve his existence, which I think is apparent. By that statement I mean, no matter what you do, you can never stop time or save moments of your life. I think that God is the reason for everything’s existence, and so does Descartes. I agree with Descartes because I truly believe that everything has a purpose. To elaborate more on that statement, I believe that everyone and/or everything has the potential to change something in the world, whether it’s a person or just something small about every day life. For example, my cause in life could be to help someone who wants to end their life. Something about me could persuade them to look at life more positively or could just simply lead them in a new, better direction. That’s what I believe Descartes is meaning by stating everything in life has a cause. Descartes says that the only thing capable of creating him and preserving him is God. Therefore, he believes God exists. I agree with this statement, mostly because of my religion. I think he believes that God is the maker of everything because God, in my opinion, is the only one capable of creating him and conserving his life. In my religion, it says that God is the maker of the Heaven and Earth. It also says that he created man and woman. In this argument, I could see where God could come into consideration, because as a follower of God you believe that he is your maker and has control over your
