What is Derek? Derek is an outstanding television program created by Ricky Gervais. Derek first aired on channel four on April 12th, 2012. It's a British television comedy/drama as well as following the format of a Mockumentary. What is a Mockumentary I hear you ask? A Mockumentary is (a fake documentary) that Ricky Gervais (the creator, director, and writer) is notorious for. Derek has just finished the second series. The television programme has attracted a viewer-ship of 21.48 million, including the pilot, which is bewildering for a British television show. It has been rumoured that Ricky Gervais will be creating a third series. I just hope if he does produce a third series of the television programme, he does not play with the viewer's emotions any less than he did in series one and two, series one and two had just the right amount of comedy and drama to give the viewer joy, heartache, and suspense. …show more content…
Derek is portrayed as a fifty-year old man who is sweet, kind, only sees the good in people, and knows no wrong. He works in a nursing home with his friends. Dougie, the electrician who is played by Karl Pilkington, who is known for having an “egg shaped head with side burns” and often gets ridiculed about it, if I was him I would have cracked by now. Kevin. David Earl plays Kevin Twine; Kevin Twine is a rude, ignorant, dirty minded, unorthodox, and unemployed character with a good heart.
