Deputy Packard's Incident Case Study

Before arriving on scene, Deputy Packard arrived on scene prior to my arrival. When I arrived on scene, Deputy Packard advised he made contact with the victim, Mr. Grant Haun (Victim), and witness, Mr. Jeffrey Fageon (witness), upon his arrival. After making contact, Mr. Fageon advised him that the suspect, Miss Christine Haun (Arrestee), was locked inside the residence by herself and he believes she was possibly suicidal. After making the statement, Mr. Fageon went around to the backside of the property, picked up a concrete block, and threw in through a bathroom glass door. The glass shattered and Deputy Packard was able to gain entry into the residence. After contact was made with Miss Haun, Deputy Packard detained her for the safety of …show more content…
Haun. During a sworn recorded statement, Mr. Haun stated the incident was a continuous arguments throughout the day. After arriving at this residence, an argument started over him eating granola in the kitchen. As Miss Haun was trying to get him into trouble with the caretaker, Mr. Fageon, the argument got worse until it became physical between the two. As they were in a physical fight, Miss Haun struck several times on his body. After causing several abrasions on his legs, arms, neck, and chest, Miss Haun came behind him and started grabbing him by his throat. He believes she was grabbing him by her right hand. As she was grabbing his throat, she started squeezing his throat, which caused lack of normal breathing circulation. According to Mr. Haun, he believes he lost air (unable to breath) for approximately forty seconds, but later believes it was approximately ten seconds. Mr. Haun fought back and was able to release himself from her grip. After breaking the grip, he fought back until the two were separate from Mr. Fageon. According to Mr. Haun, Mr. Fageon only observed a small portion of the physical altercation. After the sworn statement was completed, I took several photographs of Mr. Haun and his injuries. On his right arm, Mr. Haun receive a single rub or scratch mark. Mr. Haun stated the mark was from Miss Haun scratching him with her finger nails. On his right leg, he also had a rub or scratch mark. Haun, I conducted an interview with Mr. Fageon. In a sworn recorded statement, he advised he was not a witness to the entire incident. He stated he observed both subjects fighting each other as it was a mutual altercation.

Because the juveniles’ parent, Ms. Theresa Haun (Involved Person), was not present on scene, I had to call her over the phone. Ms. Haun advised she received a call about the incident and she spoke with her daughter, Miss Haun. During the phone conversation, she believes Miss Haun made suicidal threats by saying her would kill herself before she went to prison. During the time she made the statement, Miss Haun had already locked herself in the residence. Ms. Haun relayed the information to Mr. Fageon, via phone conversation, so he decided to go around the residence and break the glass to the bathroom door.

Ms. Haun advised she was in Hollywood, Florida, so it would take hours before she could return to Brevard County. She advised Mr. Fageon could act in her place until she could
