Depression’s Best Treatment Depression is a major factor in many people around the world. Depression isn’t sadness as sadness is only a part of the depressive symptoms, and sadness is an everyday human emotion. Depression has much worse of an effect on someone. Anyone with depression lacks the ability to accomplish an everyday task to lacking the ability to react with any emotion. In fact, some people with depression aren’t sad for the most part but just feel like they don’t have much use for their life(Depression: What You Need to Know). Depression usually starts up when someone may feel rejected from friends or family. Maybe they feel like they are a thorn in someone’s neck or have caused too big of a wrong to be forgiven for. Yet, how can a depressed person even depend on themselves? Hypnosis and meditation are a couple of treatments which are both brain exercises that have the possibility of curing depression(Depression Herbal Supplements and Natural Remedies). There is even a way of doing therapy in the creative area. Therapy is doable in the arts of paint, drawing, music, dance, and etc. This type of therapy is typically better for those who aren’t as expressive when using words. Instead of expressing themselves through just one to one, the patients involved in art therapy learn to express emotion through the arts and can possibly learn talent and potential. Art therapy is mainly used to help treat kids. Music therapy can help reduce depression. Writing shows to have an effect of inspiring a healthier lifestyle. Dance therapy also falls into the category of exercise which in review helps raise the normal energy levels of someone. Drama therapy can help develop new social skills. “Expressive therapy is a broad category of a variety of therapies. The primary strategy is to help the person get in touch with their emotional state and subjective experiences and express them,” explains Jeffrey L. Binder, PhD, a professor of psychology at Argosy University in Atlanta. “The therapy helps them feel more control of their emotions,”(Grumman). Spirituality is another option to explore, religion can give someone hope and a sense of purpose in life. Some religions can give someone things to do that can help the patient and others such as charity. Being part of a charity helps the depressed participant to feel less uselessness if that was the case. With all of these treatments available it seems like the possibility of finding a cure for one’s depression is quite well
