Real or Fake Everyday people are left feeling alone and empty, yet everyday people ignore the fact that others are out there hurting. No matter what anyone says, depression is no joke and should not be treated like it is. Depression takes the life out of those who are diagnosed with it, it controls their life: they have constant thought about suicide, troubling focusing on school or at work, and might even have to deal with the loss of family and friends. According to Dosomething.org, “20 million people suffer from depression each year, in the United States alone (par. 2).” One in four young adults are likely to suffer from depression before the age of 24. It is well known that women get diagnosed with depression more often than men do. Although, no matter which gender has been diagnosed it is know that they are more prone to suffer from colds and other illnesses than others. Depression doesn 't just affect a certain age group or ethnicity, it affects anyone no matter of gender, age, where they live, or what they do for a living. Having people who tend to fake depression, does not help those with depression due to the fact people look down upon those
