Depression has been described as having a feeling of impending doom, and feeling empty inside. Men tend to feel angry and restless. Depression isn’t like normal sadness, It affects your daily life everyday(Mrs.Coffman) interfering with your ability to go to work or school, eat, sleep, and have fun. Some common symptoms of depression are, Self loathing and having strong feelings of worthlessness, Feeling fatigued or just drained in general. Depression also leads to high risks of suicide. The feelings of hopelessness and unbearable sadness and emptiness can make suicide feel like the only way to make it end. These symptoms can easily be found within Hamlet during the play.

This can be seen with his interactions with Polonius. It seems that everytime Polonius and Hamlet talk to each other Hamlet is very rude to him but uses witty lines that go over Polonius head, calling him a rat, and even calls him a “fish monger” meaning he's a “pimp” and Ophelia is his whore, “He knew me not at first; he said I was a fishmonger.”(Act 2, Scene 2, Page 8). Also when he interacts with Ophelia as he says, “Get thee to a nunnery”(Act 3, Scene 1, Page 6) basically telling her she is a whore and she needs to go be a nun. Hamlet also argues with his mother, He is very upset with her because she almost immediately married Claudius after the death of Hamlet’s father, King
