Hamlet shows us that along with the certainties that we accept as Christians, there is much about human experience in this life that remains elusive. Therefore, Hamlet reminds us that we are not God and do not know everything. Shakespeare also forces us to confront the reality of human depravity. The worst villain in Hamlet is King Claudius, but not even Hamlet can escape the fact that he is sinning by getting revenge on his uncle. In short, Hamlet is an important piece of literature, not because of the way the play is written but because of the emotion, sacrifice, and religion that it shows us.
While Hamlet only shows us glimpses of religion, Donte however provides literature with knowledge of religion. Donte was the first poet to describe Hell, Purgatory and Heaven in detail. Therefore, in my opinion making Donte the more important piece of literature in the religion aspect. Even though Hamlet does teach us that we are not God and that we do not know everything, it doesn’t exactly give us many details of religion. However, Donte gives us great deal of the beliefs of the Christian religion and this allows readers today to get a sense of the importance that religious beliefs had in this time
