It is easy to dream about achieving everything you like, to learn everything that interests you, but it is very difficult to stay focused and work towards your goal with consistent perseverance. I have worked to fulfill my family’s dream of being a sincere and dedicated student, a responsible professional and a humble citizen of the society. With every step I took, I tried being better and increase my knowledge to be a better individual, a better dentist and a better person. I tried attending various continuing education courses, engaged in discussion with my peers and professors to develop a critical thinking about dentistry. I am really excited to be given a chance to get the best of both worlds and it sure didn’t come easy. With ups and downs in my career, to one’s in my personal life, I have become stronger, more modest and grateful for all the second chances that life offered. I remember when I was not able to perform my best in my third and final years of dentistry due to my grandfather’s ailment and constant distractions at home, it is no excuse however being closest to medicine in the family it became more of a duty than distraction. After this I not only proved my excellence in my second attempt, but got a clearer and better conceptual understanding about the subjects. For someone like me, who believes in “Family comes first (period)”, I take it as a blessing in disguise, for I got closer to my grandpa and be excellent in those subjects at the same …show more content…
Pierre Cartier, who mentored me for our project on “Analysis of ‘Dental home linkage’ among District of Columbia Medicaid children < 3years of age that received preventive oral health care services from physician and overall utilization of preventive oral health care services stratified by age, race, ward and provider type” using SAS software. Working on this project gave me an insight about the CDT codes and the trends in fluoride application and examination in a subset of the U.S.
