Dentist Career Research Paper

From dental aesthetics, to the enzymes in our saliva, I have long dubbed the oral cavity as a captivating study of interest. In retrospect, any mention of going to the dentist brought me great excitement as a child, oddly enough. I believe that pursuing a career in the dental field is solely the most rewarding, lucrative job of the twenty-first century. Dentists are able to build bonds with their long-time patients, and offer an enjoyable and inviting environment while administering the best oral care possible. I believe that I would be a good candidate for this program, because I am so driven to collaborate with others to grow and learn more about the field of dentistry. I want to be able to take the knowledge that I gain from this wonderful opportunity, and turn around and become a facet of information to those in my community. I believe that the dental field is in a dire need of diversity. One flaw of the healthcare system has to do with the imbalance of equal, quality coverage, and higher healthcare disparities within minority groups. Every person should be able to receive medical attention, regardless of who they are and what their financial status is. I understand the struggles that finances presents to many families, so once I am a dentist, I will be compelled to take a stand in helping the underrepresented. After starting in my community, I want to implement my charitable oral attention into third world countries. I have always been a supporter of foreign aid, with intentions to incorporate it in my future. I want to be a part of this movement of improvement, because there is no reason anyone should be without medical attention. If we can position ourselves in front of the eyes of children, behind their fears of going to the dentist, I am confident that we can show them how intriguing the field of dentistry is. In the past, I have been a part of two presentations aimed toward youth. The first was at a local elementary school in my hometown, Las Vegas. The second presentation I gave was in an inner-city school in Atlanta, with my Operation Smile team. It truly touched me to see how starry-eyed the children were as we brought out the activities they were going to participate in, which taught them how to correctly brush and floss. As they eagerly raised their hands to answer questions like, “how many teeth do we have,” and, “which foods are bad for your teeth,” I could not help but wish more children were able to receive this type of exposure. I cannot allow underprivileged children to grow up believing that their circumstances will limit their chances to strive towards great feats, whether it be becoming a dentist, or simply becoming the first in their family to go to college. If there is something I can do to help their situation, I will by all means do
