Description: While exploring different career paths, I shadowed in a dental clinic that served low-income patients. I noted that many patients had health disparities outside the scope of their oral health, and it was clear to me that they needed dental, medical, and social services. Furthermore, I concluded that their health needs were not mutually exclusive but were influenced by common factors. As I reflected on this and similar experiences, I felt compelled to broaden my capacity to work in healthcare, which in turn helped guide me to public health and medicine. My graduate studies, clinical shadowing experiences, and health research have validated this ambition.
