Dental Hygienists provide information on a patient’s dental health, oral hygiene, and how diseases can affect a patient’s oral health. The ability to practice requires a state-specific license to clean teeth and to develop X-rays. Licensed dental hygienists submit patient’s teeth charts, looking for decay or disease. Hygienists can be employed by state, local, or federal health agencies. If employed by the local, state, or federal agencies the laws that the hygienist practice follow must be known by the dental hygienist. Also like most health care workers, dental hygienists must be inoculated against diseases.
