Dental Hygienist Essay

When taking this course, I went into it already pretty confident in the idea that I was going to become a Dental Hygienist. The basic nature of the job is to primarily clean the teeth of a patient, observe the gums, report and record any abnormalities, and also teach the individual how they can further improve their oral hygiene. Hygienists can also be trained to use tools such as X-ray machines, rotary instruments to clean the teeth and according to the information provided by College ToolKit, depending on the state they are in, they can also administer anesthetics place and carve filling materials, temporary fillings, and periodontal dressings; remove sutures in the mouth. The experience/education to become a dental hygienist varies depending on the state and school. The American dental Association informs that Future Hygienists receive their education through academic programs at community colleges, technical colleges, dental schools or universities. The majority of community college programs take at least two years to complete, with graduates receiving associate degrees.
