Dental Hygiene Observation

Introduction to the Dental Hygiene profession has been a complete and enjoyable class that set the core all the clinical documentation and protocol to follow here at Fortis college. As part of this class the instructor had create a variety of interactive assignments where students get to experience what it feels when having a real patient in front of them. Such was the clinic observation activity where we, the lower clinic class, had the opportunity to observe how students of a higher class were handling a full clinic section with the help of their high qualified instructors. Having that said the patient agreed the fact that a third person would be in the operatory during her consultation with Unique. Once the patient was seat in the chair the student stated the medical history interview to make sure there were no significant changes since the last time the patient had treatment done. Because the patient is not longer taking probiotics and in place of that she started to take a herbal supplement of ginger-Turmeric-Limon, the student had to updated the medication section of the medical history page note by looking the dental effects of the herbal mix on Lexicon. Right after that section of the medical history the student made the patient aware that some vital signs will be take like blood pressure, and pulse, but she did not mentioned that respiration would be taken as well to prevent the patient from exaggerate normal breathing. After patient history assessment the student presented the case to the instructor in a professional and organized manner; then the instructor give her consent to proceed with the treatment plan.
