Dental Hygiene Admission Essay Examples

As I entered into my sophomore year of high school, my future aspirations all began with one simple choice that unexpectedly turned into one of the most drastic decisions I had made yet. After my freshman year, I started attending a career academy, Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, where I chose Dental Hygiene as my career pathway. After making this choice, I had no idea how much of the spectrum of dental hygiene I would be experiencing for the next couple years of my life. I performed hands-on practicals, as well as volunteering at a continuing education course for Dental Hygienists. Progressively, I took part as a participant of a regional and state Dental spelling bee. After feeling prepared enough to be exposed to real life scenarios, I took the initiative to intern at Dr. Guy Lewis 's Texas Center for Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry practice. I decided that the best way to continue my endeavor, was to start by choosing Dental Hygiene as my elective course. I chose Dental Hygiene primarily because I am very particular when it comes to personal hygiene. This choice derived primarily from a personal preference of the comfort of being a patient getting their teeth cleaned. I took joy in the feeling of clean, polished teeth. Throughout my Dental Hygiene course, I was enlightened by the fact that I was also comfortable from the perspective of playing the role as a Dental Hygienist. The practicality of performing the specific phases of a treatment plan began to have me live vicariously through the learning experience. At that moment in time it became evident that if one day I would ever become a Dental Hygienist I would do it with a passion.
