Dental Clinic Observation Paper

The two clinics I visited were Farm Workers Clinic and the second clinic was actually a dental clinic Yakima Dental Center and Orthodontics. I will begin by writing about what I observed at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, and I will start with the lighting I would say that the lighting was adequate for patients and it was not too bright nor dim. As for me, I think the lighting in the room was comfortable for the patients. When I sat down, I sat beside the window, which also brought in natural light into the reception area. During the small period, I was there the temperature felt comfortable. I was not cold and I was not hot either. The clinic was not playing any type of music. The colors the clinic used for the decor are burgundy, …show more content…
I would say the color gave the room a warm comfortable feeling. The chairs are placed along the walls of the room, and the room is smaller when comparing it to Yakima Valley Farm Workers. There are about nine chairs which are sturdy some of the chairs are wooden chairs with a padded seat, and the others have a metal frame with a padded seat. Both types of chairs are also easy to wipe down with a disinfecting wipe. The reception desk is also set on the opposite side of the entrance and it is more similar to a desk with a counter. The chairs are placed far enough from the receptionist, which gives patients privacy. As for having specialty items, the clinic does have several live plants they all looked in good condition. In addition, the traffic flow is also wide and open giving the patients comfortable space to easily move.
As to having activities, the clinic did have a coffee table with several magazines, and they have a television, which was on. The clinic was playing music quietly in the background it seemed as if they were listening to radio Disney. I did not see any special items for children. The reception area was also clean and comfortable, and they have a water cooler by the sitting

For the overall concept of the Phoenix Center, three different key styles were considered for inspiration. These examples include: the studio Lake Flato, Jean Nouvel’s Musee du quai Branly, and the dogtrot style home. Each case study derived from certain feelings or needs that wanted to be met in the design of the complex. Taking inspiration from Lake Flato allowed for a more local focus to the project. Located in the San Antonio, Texas region, Lake Flato (Figure 1) brings a distinct style to their local buildings that are shaped to compliment the surrounding landscape.…

The best interpretation of a dental hygienist that I can conceive is a professional whose main job is to teach their clients the essential oral hygiene skills and provide dental care in order for the client to maintain their overall oral health. Among the various responsibilities performed for the client to insure their health and safety includes making sure, we, as dental hygienists first do not harm to the patient by contaminating with pathogens that could have easily been disposed of by simply following the standard rules of infection control. As stated by Ester Wilkins “Dental healthcare personnel have a professional obligation to serve all patients with comprehensive oral care, including patients with known or unknown communicable diseases.…

It was the Statesman, Winston Churchill who declares that “First we shape our buildings; thereafter, they shape us.” (Kroll, 2005, p.1). This is very much evidenced in the health care facilities.. Currently, the concept of evidence-based design is drawing interest because it moves ahead of the conventional idea that the substantial environment affects residents: It strive to appraise the impact of distinctive designs on efficiency and productivity, employee and patient assurance, and patient outcome (Kroll, 2005). As part of this class the instructor had create a variety of interactive assignments where students get to experience what it feels when having a real patient in front of them. Such was the clinic observation activity where we, the lower clinic class, had the opportunity to observe how students of a higher class were handling a full clinic section with the help of their high qualified instructors. One of the expectations I had for this activity was that I would be able to see the process of care in action, since the clinician brings the patient to the operatory…
