First and foremost, Goodbye Columbus is a written with an obvious leftist leaning. On the other hand Those Who Don’t Fight Evil Fights Statues is written with an obvious right side leaning. Dennis Prager is a well known speaker and writer within The Conservative Movement of America. Both authors attempt to address the symbolic issue behind statues in light of recent events in Charlottesville. Kuttner, in his article approaches the situation moderately. He first critisizes members of the left and addresses the fact that simply defacing statues does nothing to assist in any cultural growth. He also comes out to address the benefits of the almost always criticizes extremists on the liberal side. Overall, I felt that his Kuttner’s sentiments to the issue at hand is extremely unbiased and very methodical in approach. He breaks down the issue from both sides and analyzes each component morally and objectively to determine his final verdict. His writing addresses the fact that defacing statues are the tool in which the liberals, who are cowards, take their anger upon. Dennis Prager is also an extremely horrific writer. From lines condemning the term “leftist” to randomly throwing out “Nazi”, Prager fails to establish any truth line of reasoning that can be objectively followed. Prager’s sentiments are hard to follow as well. Sure, I personally do not agree with the fact that statues of prominent figures in history should be taken down.
