I very much appreciated your discussion board post of the assessment of Dennis Hightower. You raised many good points that were specific to Mr. Hightower’s ability to lead and get results. Specifically, his ability to build a team mentality while empowering them to “make decisions in their individual markets.” Your assessments complemented Dr. Rol’s of a situational leader that relied on strategic planning and persuasive arguments to convince others to follow his lead because they saw his logic in his decisions and “how they fit into that” (Jick and Peiperl, 2011, p. 418). Having the ability to adjust leadership style based on the behavior and skill level of employees to drive results is a great skill when managing such a diverse workforce.
