The police and detectives are so focused on trying to show the general public that the crimes have been solved and someone has been punished for their actions that they clearly overlook unmistakable errors in the crime solving process. After being told to treat the convenience store like a crime scene the officer on site still allowed the manager to clean up the store. During interrogations cameras were never turned on until the interrogating officers had broken the suspect enough to the point that they felt they had to confess in order to receive any type of break. They would then turn on the cameras just long enough to get the confession on tape. Even after they had their confessions, that the wrongfully taken, they still didn't see/ overlooked the discrepancies in the multiple party confessions. All this just goes to show that they were only focused on the act of putting someone away from a crime whether or not they were guilty, just to be able to say then did
