Demonta Substance Abuse Case Studies

According to Demonta’s YASI prescreen, Demonta denied alcohol usage, but reported smoking black and milds and marijuana on a regular basis. His last usage was prior to his placement in detention on August 1, 2017. Demonta indicated he first started using marijuana at age 11 or 12, but he does not really smoke marijuana “for real, for real.” He “likes to play sports and tries to be drug-free”. Demonta has never received any kind of substance abuse treatment, but he is receptive to treatment if it is required. He indicated no impact of marijuana consumption on is behavior. Mrs. Faircloth is not aware of any current drug or alcohol usage by Demonta. Demonta was not under the influence of any illegal substance at the time of any of his offenses. …show more content…
Demonta has shown no indications of homicidal ideation and no indications of suicidal thoughts. Ms. Faircloth reported Demonta has never received a psychological evaluation. He has no history of treatment or medications for mental illness. He has never been prescribed any medication other than for his current treatment of asthma. Both Demonta and his mother reported participation with Youth Challenged Advised and Positively Promoted (YCAPP) services in school. He stated he would go talk to his counselor when he became upset. Demonta felt he struggle with anger issues. There is no evidence that he was ever physically or sexually abused. There are no indications that he has been sexually aggressive. There is no impact of
