Recently, I was faced with a situation and decided to encourage and motivate others to demonstrate good character and make ethical decisions. This situation was last year during my basketball season. Our basketball team was not a team at all because the players were rude, abrasive, arrogant, and not supportive with each other. They were also cheating during practice when the coach was not observing. It was a very difficult season. Although it was extremely tempting to quit and remove myself from that emotionally draining situation, I realized that was the easy way out and I had a great opportunity to encourage and inspire others. I opted to stay. I attempted to motivate the team to demonstrate support and kind words to each other as well
