Client is an African American 25 year old female. Client was born in Georgia and moved to Michigan around junior high school. Client has an older brother. Client reports that she always remained in the care of her mother and would visit her father during the summer when she was younger Client reported that she graduated from high school in Michigan. Client reported that she graduated form Oakland Community College in 2012 and received an associates degree. Client currently lives with her boyfriend, 2 children (5-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter) in an apartment. Client reports that she does not work and that her boyfriend is the primary provider. Client never shared this information with anyone until recently. Client has expressed that because of what she went through as a child she is very protective of her children. Client struggles with maintaining a healthy and meaningful relationship with her mother. Client has a fear of becoming her mother to her own children. Client struggles with understanding what happened to her as a child and why her mother did not help her. Client wants to have a relationship with her mother and want to be able to deal with her issues so that she is able to be a better mother to her …show more content…
Therapist is working with client to recognize her triggers, as she expressed that she at times just start snapping at her fiancé and children. Client has expressed that she is learning how to be able to handle things better. Client expressed not feeling so stressed as often. Client said she still struggles with her anxiety and feeling paranoid at times. Client is beginning to understand and except where her paranoia is steaming from and wants to do better with handling her paranoia. Client express that she tries to remain positive and hopeful most of the time. Her anxiety sometimes over take her and she becomes very worried. Client has shown that she has more of a positive outlook on her life and future. Client has expressed that the medication is great help with dealing with her anxiety.
Client has expressed that therapy has help her to manage her life. Having some one to talk to has help her to communicate more with her family. Client is learning skills and strategies necessary for her to make a better life for herself and her family and to be mentally healthy.
Client has agreed to come to therapy one a week. I plan on working with the client implementing different strategies and coping skills to help deal with her anxiety and stress. I will also encourage my client to challenge her negative thoughts. My client will also be working towards eventually being able to have an
