Although many believe that the once prominent American dream is now dead, I disagree. There is plenty of evidence to show this is not true. People can still rise from poverty to success. There is an article on US Today that supports my arguments. This article claims that The American dream is still alive just unrecognized. Studies show that most Americans are actually living this dream and don’t even realize it. Their studies showed that sizable majorities report owning a home, receiving a good education, finding a career and giving their children better lives than they themselves had. If that isn’t the American dream, I do not know what is. It may sound like an average life but that is the definition of success in my opinion. In fact, there are people from all sorts of backgrounds that have still worked to find their success. Residents of other countries still envy the United states and our vast opportunities. If you are new to this country than life probably seems great to you but for long time US citizens think of this in a different way. Many of us are used to this and take it for granted. As Americans, we are entitled to only three things; That is life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As mentioned earlier, these are our inalienable rights and they cannot be taken away. Where do I see America in ten years? I say America will decline unless we have the right leader in place. It is hard for me to see that happening though, given our current situation that could be a very difficult task. I think there will be more division amongst our people. Everyone knows we have problems but we as Americans all must come together to solve these problems. If the house is divided against itself, it is sure to fall. America may be more divided today than it has ever been. Our people are frustrated and we just happen to want to take this out on each other. As divided as our country is right now, I don’t see our situation improving unless we can learn to all come together. I also believe that quality of life will be lower. Due to inflation, the prices will be higher but income will not be able to keep up with the price increases. Also with the growing population, there will be more job competition. Competition is not necessarily a bad thing. Competition has plenty of pros and cons. Some of the pros are increased productivity, and higher profits. In this case the cons would outweigh the pros though. Some of the cons would be lower morality, higher unemployment, and unhealthy work environments. With recent trends, it also shows that healthcare will be even more unaffordable. Healthcare is currently the most it has been in thirty-two years and that is constantly on an upward trend.
