The piece that will be discussed is "Democracy and the Causes of the Civil War" by William Freehling. A brief summary of the piece is that it’s about how those of the white race enslave the blacks and how those of the black race fight for their freedom from slavery. Freehling explained deeply how the actions of the defenders of the black race fought so that those of the black race will no longer be sold and bought by those of the white race. I do not agree with this statement that anti-slavery should be treated only among them, but rather it should be treated with all the people and not only among the committees, in order to give black slaves the freedom to expression and liberty. William Freehling also argues that there were escapes of slaves from one country to another, by the abuse that was given to them or simply by their freedom to a new world. The worst problem for the slave owners was that they were not located in a single place for the distribution of black slaves but in the whole region, causing slavery to grow more and more. William Freehling and his analysis with Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, a great slaver and author of the anti-slavery statement, believed that all men should rebel against their anti-republican horror, like slavery. Therefore he feared that the reactions of the slaves would disturb the white republics that the white republicans will liberate the blacks.
