Introduction: Throughout history, democracies have been the exception rather than the norm. In the present day world, about 60 percent of the world's nations are democracies. Other nations have rulers assigned by heredity or have used the military to take leadership by force or rule by wealth or charisma. There are however, fundamental benefits of a democracy.

The main benefit of democracy is that every adult person regardless of race, religious belief or gender has the same political rights as each other. People living in a democratic society are protected from oppression by laws and limits on governmental power. Democratic governments put laws into place to protect their citizens and to ensure a safe and fair society. The

So, we can hardly call the government of Bangladesh as a democratic one.

INGREDIENTS OF DEMOCRACY: The government of Bangladesh can be analysed with the igridients of democracy.And by this way it can be verified that how much successful or unsuccessful the government of bangladesh is. The ingridients of democracy are - 1.Existence of supreme law 2.Rights of people to elect freely men and women to govern them 3.Primacy of rule of law 4.The independence of judiciary 5.The rights to freedom of expression and association 6.Transparancy and accountability of rulers and the representatives 7.Participation 8.Gender equality
These are the common ingredients of democracy which is present in the structure of a democratic government. By these ingredients a government of a country is judged if it is democratic or not. So, in order to be a democratic government these ingredients must be present.
