Different parts of the world have different political regimes and not many succeed in achieving being called a democratic state. In 2016 democracy is the political regime that the most powerful countries in the world follow. The list includes Norway, U.S.A, Germany and Sweden. Progressively, many countries are working on becoming a democracy. Some are being more prosperous, others struggle. It is not exactly easy to become a democratic country due to many requirements to fit the qualification. Some countries identify themselves as a democratic state while following an authoritarian regime. The government is composed of three branches: Legislative, Executive and Judiciary. The president is elected by the people for a six-year term. The term length used to be four years until a former president, Dmitry Medvedev changed the law. Mr. Putin, the current president had earlier served two terms as a president from 2000 until 2008. The question of Russia’s democracy arose due to “a deeply flawed system in terms of its democratic credentials, overwhelmingly tainted by corruption, and massively influenced by the power and personality of one man, Vladimir Putin.” Corruption is the main flaw and it is mostly prevalent in the Judicial system. …show more content…
The dream of keeping capitalism and democracy together in Europe had died. Europe requires a system in which the decisions are really up to the people otherwise the region will be facing many more challenges than just the refugee crisis or Greece’s default to the International Monetary Fund this past summer. The Syrian War came back and hit right in the center of Europe. Neo-Nazis marching through the capitals, some of the richest European countries, seizing assets from the refugees, the terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels and many other events that returned to Europe as a boomerang affected the region much. Currently Europe is trying to establish a common political space, but it looks like they are not that well prepared for the change. The main reason to establish a common political state for Europe is to be able to have more influence in world affairs and manage the monetary union. Moreover the question of Europe’s democracy goes deeper into the countries of the region. It is assumed that France is a democratic country with fair elections. However, according to The Economist France is a flawed democracy. France, unlike Russia or Africa has fair elections, civil liberties and political participations as a democratic country. Then
