Edwards Deming was a famous and well-known statistician and management consultant widely celebrated for his statistical process control techniques, sampling techniques, and product quality administration. His methods and operation management techniques are widely praised and adopted in Japan. He is regarded as one of the main influencer and top contributor to Japan’s economic development in the post-war era between 1950 to 1960, this period is also known as the “post-war economic miracle”. He later instituted the W. Edwards Deming Institute in Washington, DC, to promote further his teachings, techniques, and philosophy. 3. PDCA Cycle:
The PDCA cycle is also known as the Deming Cycle is an integrative process to continuously impact of organizational progress. This model is also strongly focused on continuous improvement and always focuses on the single most important aspect of the project/work, “How to make it better?”.
The PDCA stands for Plan, Do, Check and Act, and these four actions work in cyclic order to help the continuous growth of the operations management. Several advantages of PDCA cycle are discussed below.
