Demille: The Life Of Jesus In King Of Kings

DeMille’s presents a black and white silent classic about the life of Jesus in King of Kings. DeMille’s silent black and white film tells the works of Christ in a way that it truly stands the test of time. There is significant details from scriptures in the Gospels included in the film. Often there were quotes from the bible with footnotes of chapter and verse. This film is produced in a way that makes it easier for the audience see the reverence to the Bible. There are also dialogues shown thats makes it easier for the viewer to understand exactly what is happening in the film. DeMille told the story of Jesus' life by creating a flawed portrayal of events. Before the film actually began, there was a description that stated that the events portrayed by the picture occurred in Palestine nineteen centuries ago, when the Jews were under the completed subjection of Rome.

Rather than the film starting with the birth of Jesus, it starts off with Jesus on his ministry. Cecil B. DeMille turns the life and Passion of Christ from his meeting with Mary Magdalene, in the very beginning, to his crucifixion, resurrection and the ascension of Christ into heaven after the Resurrection. Although there was words being spoken in the film, DeMille formulated the movie with great sets and incredible effects. The overall tone in this film is carefully crafted in reverence to the Bible. The message is advocated in a particular way that the audience is able to see the actual sense of God’s power and
