Demi Lovato Confident Analysis

Improved Essays
Can we just talk about Demi Lovato’s confidence for two seconds? She’s got me saying yaaas, Demi, yaaaaaas! Ever since Demi has unveiled her new album, Confident, she has been a direct example of that album title. As if she couldn’t have looked any better than in her “Cool For the Summer” music video, she is working it in her new single, “Confident”. Like damn girl, this production of imagery and music really is something else!

The song itself has a kickass message that is all about showing off your confidence and not “holding your freak back.” You don’t understand the feels Demi gives me while watching this new music video. Now I definitely don’t condone anyone to be a violent prisoner but dammit Demi, you’re making it look so good. Demi

This documentary "Dreamworlds- Desire, Sex, and Power in music Videos" tries to explain how the popular culture influences contemporary music video and how this is affecting today’s culture. “Dreamworlds” insists that these narratives and cultural attitudes have shaped these music videos into sexualizing women, and filtering the identities of both men and women into “myths” about sexuality and gender. The subject group in these music videos tended to be mostly about women and how they are misrepresented and used in popular culture. Overall I agree with the film message that these music videos are misleading and only demonstrated with one point of view in which the audience can see through. For instance, the women are sexualized and presented as mere objects of for the video and men as well.…

This video gives a clear idea on how people pass judgment on someone just because of their image.…

The lyrics of the song are tragic in the way of being about self-consummation of the girl always worrying about her beauty, fate in the relationship not lasting with a hurtful companion, and release of the girl hopefully one day finding her true self and being okay with that. The lyrics also deal with dramatic illusion by having an uncertain destiny with the girl finding her beauty, and can be a little intense by saying the girl was more confident before the relationship or even before what other people thought. Based on those, this song is incongruent, meaning the controversial message is made more acceptable and the tranquility of the musicality helps that work…

Her music has always had some type of positive message for those that look up to her. She “preaches” unity amongst all, urging young women to look upon themselves as queens and demanding the respect that is due to them not just from men but from each other. Her song “U.N.I.T.Y.” sends the message against domestic violence, “But I don’t want my kids to see getting beat down; By daddy smacking mommy all around; You say I’m nothing without ya, but I’m nothing with ya: A man don’t really love you if he hits ya”. Also, speaking out towards women trying to fit in and be “gangstas.”…

In fact, the whole song sounds like a sell-out. Sure songs about summertime and sex sell, and Lovato has created a tune that we will dance to for months, but there is no sense of depth or talent to the tune. The reason we love Demi is because she is bold and daring, yet she is also raw and honest. We are used to her recounting personal experiences in her songs, and hearing about the light and shade of every situation within her voice. “Cool For The Summer” doesn’t give us these facets of Lovato, and because of that it can appear cliché.…

From paint spreading on a canvas, to bright lights shinning on a stage, women have equally shined in the limelight. When thinking lyrics that scream feminist, think Beyoncé; she has made it clear in all her songs that “girls run the world”, and should run this world. “We raise girls to see each other as competitors…Not for jobs or for accomplishments,….Which I think can be a good thing… But for the attention of men” directly out of her song called Flawless, Beyoncé shows how women are being brainwashed as kids, they don't even get to better them self’s, instead women do things for the attention of men.…
