Della and Jim Ten Years Later
Where would Jim and Della be in ten years from now? I think they would be together still because they loved each other very much and they would do anything for each other. O.Henry said “Oh and the next two hours tripped by on rosy wings. Forgot the hashed metaphor. She was ransacking the store for Jim’s present.” which means she didn’t care that her hair was gone as long as Jim got a gift and was happy.(O.Henry 289) I think they wouldn’t be tight with money anymore because Jim got promoted with his job. Della’s hair finally grew back and she can use her fancy combs, and Jim bought his watch back and he can use his chain that Della got him.
Life would be doing good for them now. They have moved since the ten years have past they can live in a better house now because of Jim’s new promotion. Jim is getting paid a lot more than he use to. But it doesn’t change the relationship between Della and Jim they still love each other no matter what happens to them. O.Henry says “The Magi brought valuable gifts, but that was not among them.” Which means even though we bought these gifts that won’t work for each other we still will love them.(O.Henry 292) Jim still gets Della a present every year, and Della gets Jim a present every year. Its five days till Christmas and Henry and Rose want to get something for their parents. But Henry and Della don’t get paid a big allowance. They get about a dollar and seventy five cents a month. But Henry did to put their money together but Rose did. They didn’t want to tell their parent that they were getting them a gift they wanted it to be a surprise. Rose and Henry decide he will get dad a gift and Rose will get mom something. So on December 22, 1917 Della let Henry and Rose go out shopping but they didn’t have car so they walk to the town to go
