Dell's Code Of Ethics

Dell started out in 1984 with just 1,000 dollars and became the largest computer system providers worldwide. The founder of the company was Michael Dell who at that time was a 19 year old. Michael Dell went to the University of Texas as a pre-med student, but at the end of his freshmen year he left to devote his time to his growing business. Dells vision in 1984 was on how technology should be designed, manufactured and sold. Dell is more than a company with a vision, it’s a company with strong ethics.
Dell does not directly state that they are a moral agent but it can be seen that they are a moral agent through their beliefs and policies. In the code of conduct document on the Dell websites there is a diagram that the company follows to make ethical decisions. First they ask themselves if it is legal. Second, is seeing if it meet the terms of Dell’s policies. Third, is asking if it mirrors the values and ethic of Dell. The last step is inquiring if it respects their people, stakeholders, communities, and the planet. If any of the above four has the answer no they don’t do it, but if they are not certain they go seek help. Though they have this diagram to help them make decisions they have a reason why they instill such strong ethics.

In simply terms they focus on honesty, trustworthy, Respecting others, courage, judgment and responsibility. Of course, every business that cares about its ethics will always address its concerns. Dell addresses many of their concerns or key risk through the code of conduct they have created. The key risk factor that seems to occur with Dell Inc. are the following: workplace environment, protecting the environment, conflicts with stakeholders, insider trading, their products, preventing money laundering, human rights, and bribery . so Dell has created a way for stakeholder and their employees to learn how to deal with social
