Trees are a valuable resource that mankind has taken for granted. Without thinking about the impact on the environment, mankind has plundered through forests cutting down billions of trees for selfish purposes leaving the land barren. Many developing countries have the majority of forests that are stripped for its resources and imported around the world. Instead of pillaging the land, developed countries should aid in stopping deforestation within developing countries. Larry Schweiger recommended, “We must forge a deal that helps developing countries protect remaining uncut forests, which are vital stores of carbon. Properly executed, this will help mitigate climate change, provide protection for rain-forest biodiversity and help the poor develop in sustainable ways” ("The Road To Copenhagen..."). Successful protecting the forests in developing countries from exploitation will improve the environmental concerns that have been created as a result of deforestation. The automatic concern when deforestation is mentioned is the loss of habitats for animals and resources, but not many think of the problem you can’t see. When multiple trees are cut down, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere causing climate changes, which is recognized as global warming. Putting an end to deforestation would not completely solve the atmospheric problems. but it would stop it from getting worse.
