“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound’(Anonymous). The answer is yes, because a tree falling is a forest will be heard by all the wildlife and will affect everything around it. Deforestation is a change of land from forest to non-forest. Trees are a valuable resource that mankind has taken for granted. Without thinking about the impact on the environment, mankind has plundered through forests cutting down billions of trees for selfish purposes leaving the land barren. According to the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, “46-58 thousand square miles of forest are lost each year - equivalent to 3 football fields every minute”(Rawles). That is 3 football fields of shelters for animals lost, food gone, and carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere every minute. Continuing at this rate, deforestation will lead to the destruction of the environment mankind needs to survive.
Deforestation is a man-made environmental issue causing harm to wildlife and the atmosphere. It can be solved by public support compelling local government to help developing countries protect their forests, put an end to illegal logging, and protecting local forests. Although the end of deforestation is said to solve many environmental issues some critics believe that cutting down more trees will be a solution to the climate change. There is no research done to decide whether or not these theories are valid but there are many hypnotises to support the claim. As…
