Deforestation in South America has lots of different effects on many different things like animals, people, and the world. It doesn’t just affect that specific place, if affects the world. Most fruit and cereals we buy come from tropical places that are being cut down and someday soon we are going to really feel the consequences and it’s going to hurt. The place that is currently the worst is South America. We get so many foods are resources from here like avocados, coconuts, figs, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, bananas, guavas, pineapples, and mangos, and they could all be taken away. Just the Amazon alone accounts for more than half of the entire world's remaining rainforests; and …show more content…
Most of that food comes from rainforests and we are cutting them all down. Without the rainforests, we will lose a huge source of food that many people rely on with their lives. Even though we are cutting these rainforests down, we are doing it to make farms and plantations which could give us more food. Along with cutting down rainforests for plantations, about 17% in the past 50 years have been cut down for cattle ranching. (Robbins, 2016) This really affects locals because the meat is sold to North America, China, and Russia. Not South America. Due to this cattle farming, Costa Rica has lost most of its forests. On top of all of this, many farmers cut down small amounts of rainforests to feed their families. At the time, it doesn't seem like much land but it adds up to 50% of rainforest destruction. (Robbins, 2016) Along with that, when we cut down trees, we are cutting down what cleans our air for us. When we do that we are making it so less and fewer people can live in that area. If we don't stop this, lots of fruits and other foods will no longer be available for us to have due to not enough trees and not enough people can live there to work on those …show more content…
They don’t care how they treat the land and leave it looking like trash. The most common things taken from under the rainforests are things like diamonds, oil, aluminium, copper, and gold. (Cooper,2016) it may seem like taking things from under the ground instead of above ground won’t be as bad but it is equally bad and possibly even worse. To mine, workers have to clear out an area of trees for the mine and a place for them to live temporarily. Once again, it may not seem like a lot but it does add up to an awful amount. Along with cutting down the trees to mine, they use poisonous chemicals to separate the waste from minerals like mercury and gold. (Cooper,
