Urbanization is one of the reason for prejudice in cities. People is cities are worried about their security, peace of mind and uncertainty. People in cities are disconnected from each other and are on very low social contact level with others. People are controlled by advertisement and media and they are not willing to welcome any outsider who try to disrupt this settings. Allport says that people in cities want “more goods, more luxury, and more status.” The standard set by the advertisers call for contempt of the people who are poor, who do not reach the level of material existence that is recommend. This give rise to less tolerance and prejudice towards the people who are poor and socioeconomically below them, such as: Negros, immigrants and rustics (belongs to rural areas).
