DEFINITION OF THE TELEPHONE
The telephone can be defined in so many different ways, but for the purpose of this paper, it will be defined as a device that has the ability to convert different form of electrical and sound waves put together into a signal that can be heard between two different people or more (conference call) using the telephone. In a nutshell, the telephone is a system that is used to transmit voice messages through electric signals. Basically, the two basic parts that are used to carry out the operation in the use of the telephone is the microphone, which allows the person using it to speak into the device, and the speaker, which allow the user to hear what is being transmitted. People also write letters back and forth as a means of communication, and it takes a little while before they get their messages across, but it is not considered as technological means of communication because there no exchange of any kind of electrical material involved. The telegraph was the first system used as a means of communication where technology is involved because it uses electricity and magnetism during the process of transmission. Business can be conducted in real time without the presence of the people doing the business; this is possible with the advance technology associated with the telephone. Staying in touch with clients and sending instant messages is made possible with the telephone. Advancement in technology, which leads to the invention of the cell phone, makes it easy for employees and customers to be reached in no time wherever they are located. Global economy is receiving a massive boost with the evolution of communication. The absence of the telephone in the business environment will make communication difficult; hence the flow of business will be slow. The telephone made it possible for business to be located anywhere around the world. Some individual now do business in the comfort of their home telecommuting with other business partners at their convenient time. Almost all industries if not all, depend on the power of the telephone as the platform for their communication. The use of the telephone require no formal training, although some establishments or organization who uses sophisticated systems might require the user to under a kind of orientation on their telephone system in order for the individual to understand how to manipulate the system.
