Although I was, at times, forced to be responsible, I know that financial independence and the ability to help myself are useful qualities to have in this world. I wanted things beyond what my parents could or had to provide for me so I decided I was willing to put in the extra work to get those things. I am on the road to figuring out who I am and who I want to be. I have constantly worked to become a hard worker for my different employers and I need to apply that mentality to my schoolwork. This will aid me in my journey to find success. I need to utilize the meticulous concentration I have while working and apply it to my academics in order to continue on my path to accomplishing my goals. I really wish to do well, but I consistently seem to hold myself back. I need to apply myself and study. In other words, procrastinating is not an option. As of now, I am trying college so that I can have a strong base for whatever career I will pursue. However, I have considered many different options and am still unsure of the right profession for me. I know what interests me and I am positive that my future career will be a more active role that does not require me to sit in a cubicle for eight hours a day. With this as my base, I will continue to explore my different options and keep an open mind. I have to use these interests to find a talent that I can apply to a specific job within a profession. My intention is to not only to be successful, but it is also very important to me to enjoy my future

At what cost do we define success? Americans have been considered extremely successful for many decades; as a result, the “American dream” has been sought after by many. An attempt to identify all the possible factors and behaviors that have contributed to that success could consume a large quantity of time. The textbook definition of success is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose,”. From personal experience, however, success is anything that can make an individual feel content with the life the person lives, whether planned or not. Success is not required to be something that leaves a mark on the entire world; success can just be something that leaves a mark on you. As Jon Krakauer, author of Into The Wild, once wrote “The basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure,” (77) I believe that everyone should follow their dreams and accept what comes without hesitation. For Chris Mccandless and Henry David Thoreau, however, success was more about finding out who a person really is by life experiences, personality, and attitudes…
