Happiness and Success
The definition of success is “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” Because we all have different aims and goals in life, success will be seen differently to every single person asked. Many people’s goal in life is to have money, these people will most likely see success as being rich. People whose goals are to win awards or trophies will most likely see success as winning an Oscar or a championship. Some people’s goals are to have power, these people will probably see becoming president or mayor of a state as being successful. The truth is, having money does not always guarantee happiness or success. I learned this through my aunt’s mistakes. My aunt assumed that making money was the only important thing to look at, when choosing a career. Consequently, she decided to pursue becoming a Radiologist, not because she was passionate about it or found the career interesting, but because she was interested in the amount of money they made. She spent multiple study-filled years taking tests and stressing before finally getting the degree she needed. During that time she had lost countless friends because she had little time for a social life. Despite this, she continued with her schooling because she believed that it’d all pay off in the end. When she was finally settled in her career, she enjoyed the money she made, but soon realized that there was only so much money could buy. After the fun of having money died down, she also realized she didn’t like her job all that much either. It was at this moment that she started to understand that money is not as important as she had thought. She’s now stuck in a career she despises, that not even the money could make up for. In some ways I do think my aunt is successful, she worked hard to graduate from a medical school. However, she is not happy with where she currently is in life, which I believe is the only way someone could be truly
