"I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet."
I think this proverb means that there are people out there that have less than what I have and that I shouldn't complain about what I have. I may not like the food on my plate, but I should eat it all anyways. There are kids in the streets that worry about how they are going to get food every day while I lounge around waiting for my parents to make my food for me. Some people - including myself - need to be more thankful for what we have.
I think that people are dissatisfied with themselves, their lives, and what they have because humans are jealous and greedy beings. That is how God has made us. We always want what we don't have, and once we get the thing that we wanted we

The definition of dissatisfied is; not satisfied or pleased; discontented; the definition of selfish is; devoted to caring or caring only for oneself; concerned primarily with one's own interests, benefits, welfare, etc., regardless of others. I believe that being selfish can lead to being to dissatisfied and vice versa. When you are selfish you want everything and don't think about others. Greedy means to be excessively or inordinately desirous of wealth, profit, etc.; avaricious. I think that selfish and greedy are more synonymous than with dissatisfied. When I am greedy, I am normally selfish too; I want the object and I will want all of it. If I don't get the item or all of the item, then I am sad and dissatisfied. That is how I think these three words are …show more content…
I have also been told that love and affection are on that list. When I go shopping with my family, my brothers and I almost always ask for something we think we need, my parents then ask us if we really need and we respond with no. We may be walking by a store with a beautiful dress in the display window and I turn to my mother and tell her that I need it even though I don't. Items that I really do need are food, water, and shelter. To tell if the object you think you need is one that you actually do need is to ask yourself, "Do I really need this?" If you can live without then you don't need the item. If you spend all your money on expensive, fancy clothes, games, toys, and makeup, then you won't have any money to spend on the

Columbus did lots of horrifying things to a mass of people; both to the europeans and the natives, yet some people get a day off to celebrate his “achievements.” For example, Columbus selfishly mistreated the natives by being a “greedy imperialist who slaughtered and spread disease among the indigenous people and institutionalized the slave trade.” However, John Sebastiano, president of UNICO believes Columbus “globalized our world.” One can argue, Columbus did do horrible things and that the bad out ways the good because what he did was not acceptable at all. He watched out for himself only and did not care if he was hurting a human population.…

Have you ever wondered why successful people seem so unhappy? In my opinion its not because they don't have everything they want or need it’s because they have what they thought would make them happy. According to Saint Lucian poet Derek Walcott, “The discontent that lies in the human condition is not satisfied simply by material things.” Throughout history it has been proven time and time again, that those who rely on material objects such as money, stature, and fortune, often find themselves in a place of dissatisfaction, and envy. These negative feelings occur for no good reason other than the fact that “material things” are just “things”, and have no real meaning or purpose. Concepts like meaningful relationships and empathy, two ideas that are needed to lead a happy and in some cases moral life, are concepts that people who focus solely on status, and riches often fail to understand. The idea of what happens when one has an intense…

There is a famous disney movie, Beauty and the Beast, about a prince who gets cursed and is turned into a beast who must fall in love with someone, otherwise he will remain that way forever. In the beginning, the beast is thought of as this terrifying monster who everyone is afraid of, but towards the end of the movie, he turns out to be a nice and caring character who is actually the complete opposite of scary. People just assumed he was terrifying because of the few actions that the movie presented at the start. Before I read this book I never truly thought the way that you think could actually change so much about how you work. I know that we all learn and think differently but I have been taught that nobody has a bad way of thinking. But this made me realize that when we stop and really think sometimes there can be a bad type of thinking not bad as in you don’t get a result but bad as in the type of result you get. It was hard for me to barely just get past the different types of thinkers before I started thinking back to the people I know and the teachers I had.…

The pursuit of happiness can be arduous if one’s interpretation of happiness is entitled to the idea of happiness depending on the ability to get what we want. Nevertheless, happiness is defined as showing pleasure or contentment with a person, situation, or the self. According to psychologist Dan Gilbert, however, happiness can be divided into two concepts: natural happiness and synthetic happiness. Gilbert defines natural happiness as what people get when they get what they wanted, and synthetic happiness as what people make when they don’t get what they wanted. Indeed, natural happiness can produce genuine happiness, but the flaw in this kind of happiness is that people don’t always get what they want.…
