Friendship
When I was 5, I used to say that everyone in my class was my friend. I really wasn’t particular about who I would hang out with. If they’d share their snacks and toys with me- they were considered one of my best friends! At that age, I didn’t have many kids my own age that I’d see regularly so I was really excited to make new friends. The more the merrier! Then, as I got older, I started to stick with the few people that I liked to hang around, talk to, and eat lunch with. I think that in elementary school, even if you don’t have a group, everyone is friendly with each other. You’ll still have people to talk to and look out for you.
As a teenager making friends is a little different. I’ve been going to school with the same people for ten years and I know almost everyone there. In spite of this, every year in school I would only hang around a few certain people, and I know many others my age do this too. I believe this is because teenagers are passionate about many things and these things are

Friendship means caring. It means caring about the other person, watching out for them, helping them and knowing that you can expect the same in return. Friendship has no limits. There are no rules about how often you must see or talk to them for them to be considered a ‘real’ friend. I’ve made so many friends in DMA, but I only see them once every few months for the programs. Unfortunately, we don’t talk much outside of DMA, since we all live so far apart and it’s hard to keep each other updated- even with all these social networks that we’re constantly on. Nevertheless, every time we do see each other, we’re able to pick up right where we left off, talking for hours on end and catching up. I’m thankful for those friends. I’d also say that we’re much closer than many of the people that I’ve been going to school with for

The TV series I will be speaking of that shows most of the sociological concepts is the show “Friends”. This show shows most of the sociological concepts that we have learned in class for example the show has groups and organizations, deviance, sex and gender, and socialization/social interaction. To give brief summary of what the show is about is literally about 6 friends and their everyday lives dealing with their everyday struggles and different experiences. In the show the 6 friends names are Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, and Joey, each of them or at least most of them are great examples to some of the sociological concepts we have learned this semester. The first sociological concept I noticed in the show was…

Although identifying as neither male nor female is a slightly more modern and lesser occurrence, every non-binary person is valid nevertheless. Erasing their validation means erasing numerous lives from now and throughout the past. There are many examples of important historical non-binary figures. Jemima Wilkinson, for example, was an evangelist in the late eighteenth century who founded the “Society of Universal Friends.” After suffering from illness in the late 1770s, Wilkinson renamed them-self a variation of “Public Universal Friend” or “The Friend” according to different sources, and refused to use “she” or “he” pronouns.…

Prosperity, love, and dreams, are all results of connections shared with others. In times of devastation, these relationships provide support and aspiration. By taking on the burdens of others, one does not only aid another person but also ourselves. Friendship is a two way street in which both reap the rewards of support from each other. Our parents tell us constantly that the people with the biggest impact on us is our friends. High school is split into different groups of people; you have the jocks, the brainiacs, and the kids who don’t care about anything. Who are we kidding, there are none of those kinds of people in Alpena High School, everyone here loves school! If we have all these different groups of people to choose from, how do we know which groups are the right ones? The people that you spend a majority of your time with will rub off on you.…

The Element Project If someone would have told me 5 years ago that I would be going to college to become a teacher I probably would have laughed right to their face. I have nothing against teachers it just never seemed like a career I would enjoy. I actually did not plan on going to college because I honestly had no idea what I would pursue in college. I did not make a final decision about my career path until my last year of high school. I just had too many things going on in my personal life to even think about my life after high school.…

Those who surround us can change our outlook on life as well as change the way we live in a negative or positive way. Friendships is the unit that many look to in their times of need, for advice, or just someone to talk to in general. However in this world these “friendships” that exist “overlook philia, the slower-burning and longer lasting complement” (Akst 84). Askt brings about the idea of all of the “friends” that one may have but the friendship that we possess is “diluted” and will not fulfill the true meaning of friendship being “uniquely suited to fill the void because unlike matrimony or parenthood, it’s available to everyone, offering concord and even intimacy without aspiring to be all consuming” (Akst 85). Friendship as well as the idea of it is arisen throughout the entire novel, creating…

We all listened to the same bands, loved the same teen heartthrob, and all had a similar personality. It took losing a core group of friends of mine transitioning into freshman year to show me that it’s okay to be your own person. I will say freshman year was a huge struggle for me to go through without being friends with the people that I had grown closest to in the 8th grade and years prior to 9th grade, but in the long run it has benefitted me more than I could have ever imagined that year. I now am not afraid to be alone sometimes and not always hang out with a group of people or one person every weekend. I’m okay with spending time by myself just relaxing in my room or grabbing some lunch at bread co by myself when I can.…
