When you look at an American and what defines them you see how each one of them are unique and diverse,but being that America was being created from a mixing pot then Americans are determined to better one another. We always focus Americans as these freedom hungry citizens and that's it, but that's not it, we are much more than just being quoted as “freedom.” Many people have their own interpretation on what it is to be an American; Americans are wonderful people who innovate, believe, and are hard working to achieve their dream. Americans are ones who fight and achieve their dreams. The three main things that define an American are, having their own freedom, having the chance to unify, and a chance to achieve our dreams through hard work and dedication.

The nation's first amendment stated that, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”Without the first amendment we would not have as much freedom …show more content…
For instance, September 11, 2001 was one of America's most horrific days in history, that still stands true today. In New York, both of the Twin Towers were hit by terrorist and many hundreds of people died. America came together to be one nation which shows individually Americans care about one another, together Americans will always help and care for each other. From the poem, “I Hear America Singing” written by Walt Whitman he states, “singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs” on page 12. That line from the poem it creates the feeling of unity because it shows how America has a wide range of jobs to select
