When defining an American having their own freedom is the really big topic that we think about. With freedom we have the right to be whoever we wish to be. For instance, September 11, 2001 was one of America's most horrific days in history, that still stands true today. In New York, both of the Twin Towers were hit by terrorist and many hundreds of people died. America came together to be one nation which shows individually Americans care about one another, together Americans will always help and care for each other. From the poem, “I Hear America Singing” written by Walt Whitman he states, “singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs” on page 12.
