Improved Essays
Friendship is defined in the dictionary as the state of being friends and a friendly feeling. Not everyone is a friend. A friend is a person who is willing to be there for you when you are going through a serious situation. When your car breaks down and you are stuck in the middle of the highway and your friend is willing to drive all the way to pick you up and call AAA for you, that’s true friendship. I have had some situations when a friend will always be there for me whenever I need them. I had an awful experience a few months ago; one night my friend did henna for my arms and it felt itchy all night and looked ominous. I didn’t even know that I had an allergic reaction; my arms had hives and some peeling. I texted my best friend about the situation and my best friend drove all the way to my home; she lives 30 minutes away from my home. Not only that, but she had to work at 8 a.m. She brought me to the hospital and after everything was fine; if it was not for her then my arms probably would have gotten worse. I’m so blessed to have a true friend like her. Another example, my friend keeps complaining and worrying that I’m walking to the library every night instead of riding the bus because there is no bus service at night. He wants to make sure that I’m safe, so he is willing to drop me off at the library every night after work, which is true

First, one incident in my personal life that is an example of Sorrell’s quote involved someone else changing their normal routine to help me and my brother. In 2011, sometime during the colder months, my dad felt extremely sick all of a sudden He felt cold and started shivering, and coughs racked his ailing body. It clearly was not a regular cold and flu, so my mother first drove all of us to the hospital at around 4:00 in the afternoon. Then she drove my brother and I back home so she wouldn’t have to worry about us. She raced back to the hospital and never left my dad’s side until almost midnight.…

We waited in line for about 40 minutes till we went through security, then we were officially at the music festival. We had just left the merch booth when the first text came, I never read it myself but I believe it along the lines of ‘How are you?’ it was innocent enough, she was just inquiring about the status of her daughter. Throughout the night the texts became more rapidly occurring and more intense, I could see that my friend became progressively more and more stressed and anxious as the night went on, she would constantly be worried that she would miss so much as a single text from her mother, which was very likely to happen since we had earned spots extremely close to the stage, the music was so loud we could feel the beat strongly in our chests, so how could either of us hear a phone ring? Eventually the first day of the festival came to a close at 11:45 pm. When we were picked up we were both tired, sore and hungry from standing up all day in order to be at the front, to get our money's full worth we reasoned.…
