Definition Essay: What Is Courage?

Courage When I think of courage, many things come into my head. I personally believe courage is something that people face on a daily basis, whether it’s getting up in front of a big crowd when you have stage fright or risking your life to save someone else's. “The quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.” (Courage). Courage to me is something that someone is willing to do something fearlessly for the first time or doing something over again that they were once afraid to do. A word that is commonly confused with courage is, daring. To describe “daring” most resources would explain it using the word “courage” to get a better understanding of the word. Although it makes sense saying that, they mean different things. Daring is doing something bold, that somebody told you to do or something that is more dangerous. Daring comes from the word “dare” which is when someone tells you to do something you might not necessarily want to do. Through her time and effort she tries to create the best life possible for me. Through rough times she is always able to get back on her feet and make it seem like nothing happened.
