We examine ourselves against an internally established code of right behaviour and we find that it becomes necessary to feel guilt for something said, done or even thought. Guilt can be an incredibly powerful emotion with very little reason to why it should be felt that way inside of us. It could be portrayed as something large or small depending on the situation, and the way we think as a human in general. If a person did not take things he/she perceived very seriously, that person would feel microscopic amounts of guilt unless he/she performed an action unworthy of speaking of towards a loved one.
