In order for a person to lie about something that person will need a reason, either to cover something up, to explain something in a nicer way in order not to make the specific person being lied too to feel bad, to hid information that is thought of un important or un necessary, or even to just get out of a situation. There are multiple types of lies, to many to state actually; in general it is divided in to good lies and bad lies. Good lies are the low risk ones that do not really harm anyone in a deep way, and the bad lies are the ones that can harm both the liar and the one being lied too.

A lie is like an eclipse covering the sun. The lie affects everything that it touches; it can cause crops to die from not sunlight, like people can die without truth. However the truth will eventually come out, and the crops will right themselves, but people cannot. Sometimes a bad truth is better than a good lie. Like the sun behind the moon the truth will eventually come out for all to see, and it is better to come out when it is discovered rather than someone having to pry to get it out.…

Everyone on Planet Earth is a liar; harsh but true. Every day we say “Yes, I am okay” or “No, I did not steal the cookie.” These are examples of the millions of lies told, big or small. In the short story The Ways We Lie, the author described ten types of lies: lies of delusion, lies of omission, lies of dismissal, or white lies (Ericsson 409-416). In “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson she discusses and breaks down the activity of lying into different kinds of lies. Ericsson goes into great detail of about 10 of them, but there are many more. Some lies are for your peace of mind and maybe still bad for both parties, and some are for the better of someone else’s feelings. Ericsson believes that even if you feel you are perfect, nobody is and still tell lies no matter big or small, we do it and at times are unaware that it is considered a lie. Individuals nowadays get to a point where they are lying and don’t know whether to believe themselves or others.…
