Definition Essay: What Does Loyalty Means

There are so many definitions of the word loyalty how do you know which one to use or what loyalty means. The main word you see in the definition of loyalty is support, whether that be supporting someone or something. For me, loyalty is staying by someone’s side and supporting their decisions even when you don't fully agree with it. This could be with your parents, in a relationship, or it could even go for your favorite sports team. Parents are a good example of this. Parents support your decision even when they don't think it is the best thing for you to do. In a relationship, you loyalty is greatly need especially if it is a long distance relationship. The guy I have been dating for two and half years decided that he wanted to go and join the Army that caused some tension between us. The same time he made this decision I choose to go to Barton College and even though we didn't want each other to leave and it was a hard goodbye we knew that we had to support the other person’s decision. Being a fan to a sports team requires loyalty. You can't just leave your team if they replace your favorite player or if they don't make it to the playoffs because of a mistake the team made. Take for example The Green Bay Packers, if they let Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback, go and it cost the team the Super Bowl fans would be mad but because they are loyal to their team they would stand beside their team.
